The problem
Product-Market Fit erodes when it is left to instinct instead of method.
You were taught the moves piecemeal, never the whole model.

The model
- 01Business Strategy Alignment
- 02Value Innovation Discovery
- 03Validated User Research
- 04Frictionless UX Design
- 05Validated Value Proposition
- 06Product-Market Fit
- 07Competitive Advantage

Step 1 of 5 · Business Strategy Alignment
Identify the exact revenue stream your UX decisions move, then express design success in that unit.
Misconception
Alignment means the executive team signs off on your design vision after the fact.
Reality
Alignment is a directional constraint you inherit before the first sketch: the business model dictates which user behaviors are worth designing for, and sign-off only ratifies work already shaped by those economics.

Step 2 of 5 · Value Innovation Discovery
A genuine value innovation profile has visible eliminations and reductions, not just a longer list of features.
Misconception
Practitioners believe value innovation means adding standout UX features until the product feels premium, and that lower cost is a separate finance problem.
Reality
Value innovation comes as much from what you eliminate and reduce as from what you raise and create; stripping factors the industry over-serves is what funds the differentiation and drops the cost simultaneously.

Step 3 of 5 · Validated User Research
A research finding only validates if you defined in advance what would have falsified it.
Misconception
Practitioners believe that gathering enough user feedback—surveys, interviews, feature requests—automatically counts as validation.
Reality
Validation requires a falsifiable hypothesis and a decision criterion set in advance; feedback without a pre-stated claim to disprove is just accumulation that confirms whatever you already wanted to hear.

Step 4 of 5 · Frictionless UX Design
Frictionless means fewer decisions and inputs to reach a goal, not fewer pixels on the screen.
Misconception
Teams equate frictionless design with minimalist, sparse interfaces—the belief that removing visual elements automatically removes friction.
Reality
Friction is cognitive and procedural, not visual; a clean screen that hides the next step or forces users to guess creates more friction than a dense screen that makes the path obvious.

Step 5 of 5 · Validated Value Proposition
A value proposition is validated only when a costly user action confirms desirability AND unit economics confirm viability.
Misconception
Practitioners believe a value proposition is validated once users say they like the idea in interviews.
Reality
Stated enthusiasm is not evidence; validation requires observing costly signals—purchases, sign-ups, task completions, or willingness to switch—paired with proof the offer can be delivered profitably.

- Value Innovation DiscoveryA genuine value innovation profile has visible eliminations and reductions, not just a longer list of features.
- Validated User ResearchA research finding only validates if you defined in advance what would have falsified it.
- Frictionless UX DesignFrictionless means fewer decisions and inputs to reach a goal, not fewer pixels on the screen.
- Validated Value PropositionA value proposition is validated only when a costly user action confirms desirability AND unit economics confirm viability.
- Product-Market FitFlat retention curves, not acquisition growth, are the primary evidence of product-market fit.
- Competitive AdvantageSustainable advantage rests on compounding assets, not feature counts that competitors can replicate.
- Business SustainabilitySustainability follows from consistent value delivery and healthy LTV-to-CAC, not from post-hoc financial tuning.
